Friday July 18, 2008 Wee Wern scrambles into the final KUALA LUMPUR: Asian junior champion Low Wee Wern staved off a strong challenge from team-mate Siti Munirah Jusoh to reach the final of the NSC Super Satellite No. 2 tournament at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil yesterday. The fifth seeded Penangite took 41 minutes to chalk up a 9-4, 10-8, 9-3 win. Wee Wern, who will turn 18 on July 25, will play against top seed and world No. 28 Line Hansen in the final. The Dane defeated third seed Alana Miller of Canada 9-2, 9-5, 9-2 in the other semi-final. Wee Wern: Will take on world number 28, Lisa Hansen, in the final of the NSC Super Satellite tournament today. Wee Wern, who is ranked 56th in the world, said that she would go all out to win her second title on the professional (Wispa) circuit after her triumph in the NSC Satellite No. 3 tournament in April. “I defeated Hansen 3-1 in a NSC satellite tournament last year. She has improved a lot and I can expect a tough time tomorrow,'' said Wee Wern. The men's final is repeat of the NSC Satellite tournament last week with top seed Shahid Zaman of Pakistan playing against second seed Mike Corren of Australia. Semi-final results Men: Shahid Zaman (Pak) bt Elvinn Keo (Mas) 11-9, 11-7, 11-7; Mike Corren (Aus) bt Steve Finitsis (Aus) 4-11, 11-8, 3-11, 11-3, 11-8. Women: Line Hansen (Den) bt Alana Miller (Can) 9-2, 9-5, 9-2; Low Wee Wern (Mas) bt Siti Munirah Jusoh (Mas) 9-4, 10-8, 9-3.
