Wee Nee makes the semis
Top seed Low Wee Nee of Penang cruised into the semi-finals of the girls’ Under-18 National Schools Sports Council (MSSM) squash championships with a 9-4, 9-2 win over Kedah’s Yew An Gee at the Astaka Courts here yesterday. Wee Nee, the younger sister of national player Wee Wern, will face fourth seed Raja Nurul Sarah of Selangor, for a place in the final today. Nurul staved off a strong challenge from S. Subhasini before prevailing 10-8, 9-5 in the quarter-finals. Second seed Nessrine Ariffin of Penang also reached the last four with a 9-5, 9-1 win over Norlia Mohd of Kedah. Nessrine will meet third seed Choy Siew Foong of Perak for a place in the final today. Siew Foong defeated Nur Aziah of Johor 9-5, 9-4 in the quarter-finals. In the boys’ category, all the top four seeds players made it to the semi-finals. Top seed Mohd Zul Azri of Selangor taking on fourth seed Ong Han Jie of Kelantan and second seed Mohd Yassin of Penang squaring off against third seed Leong Elroy of Selangor.
