Three-day squash meet to return in September
THE success of the Jumbo Doubles Squash Championships has prompted the organisers to initiate another get-together in September. The three-day championships, organised by Ultimate Squasher, was held at the Raintree Club in Kuala Lumpur. Participants, including about 30 from Hong Kong and Singapore, commended Ultimate Squasher, helmed by former Malaysian international and three-time Asian junior champion Sandra Wu and former Singapore international Della Lee, for organising the championships. “It was not an easy task organising the championships. We had to do a lot of legwork to put things together. But the enthusiastic words from the participants have certainly made us look at another similar event in September,” said Lee. The championships' doubles had two categories – Premier and Division One – while there was also singles for men and women. The men's final saw the pair of Elvinn Keo-Chong Kam Hing take on Mubashir Gul-Vivian Rhamanan. After a 45-minute encounter, Mubashir Gul-Vivian won 11-9, 11-6. The sponsors were Cotra Enterprises, the distributors of Vitagen and Marigold in Malaysia, Amer Sports, the distributors of Wilson brand, and Vasyli.
