KUALA LUMPUR: Sixth seed Siti Munirah Jusoh came back from a set down to upset second seed Orla Noom of Holland to move into the semi-finals of the NSC Super Satellite No. 2 championships at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil yesterday.
The Terengganu lass, who is ranked 59th in the world, took 47 minutes to register a 2-9, 9-3, 10-8, 10-8 win over the world No. 38. Siti will play against team-mate and fifth seed Low Wee Wern today for a place in the women’s singles final.
The 18-year-old Wee Wern also scored an upset win – beating fourth seed Chinatsu Matsui of Japan 9-5, 4-9, 9-3, 9-2.
Siti said that Noom was the highest ranked players she had beaten on the professional circuit thus far.
“I am happy with my game and will go all out to get the better of Wee Wern to reach the final,” she said.
In the men's competition, seventh seed Elvinn Keo defeated Hong Kong's Wong Wai Hang 11-7, 11-8, 11-9 to set up a semi-final match against second seed Mike Corren of Australia.
