One last hurdle for Delia
KUALA LUMPUR: National number three Delia Arnold continued to send more fancied players packing in the NSC Super Satellite No. 2 tournament at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil yesterday. The sixth seeded Malaysian upset fourth seed Alana Miller to qualify for the final. Delia, who eliminated second seed Joshna Chinappa of India in the quarter-finals on Wednesday, beat the world number 39th ranked Canadian 9-6, 5-9, 9-5, 9-6 in 62 minutes. The 46th ranked Delia will play against top seed and world number 28 ranked Line Hansen of Denmark in the final today. Hansen advanced with a 9-0, 9-1, 9-0 win over Malaysian fifth seed Lim Yoke Wah. The 22-year-old Delia took a 6-0 lead in the fourth set of the match against Miller but made some unforced errors to allow the Canadian to level the score before claiming victory. “I was tense and allowed her to draw level. But I regained my composure and played some tricky shots to win the game. I need to cut down my errors to get the better of Hansen in the final,’’ she said. Delia lost 2-3 to Hansen in the final of the NSC Satellite tournament last year. “I definitely want to avenge the defeat. I defeated two higher ranked players to reach the final and I hope to create another upset tomorrow to win my third Wispa title,’’ she said. Delia, who turned professional five years ago, won a NSC satellite and a POF Pakistan satellite tournament last year. In the men's competition, sixth seeded Malaysian Nafzahizam Adnan bowed out in the semi-finals, going down 3-11, 8-11, 5-11 to second seed Mike Corren of Australia.
