Nicol wins Apawamis Open
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s Nicol David got her squash season off to a great start by winning the US$60,000 Apawamis Open in New York on Monday. The world number one pummelled second seed Natalie Grinham of Australia 9-1, 9-6 in the first two sets. The duo were tied at 6-6 in the third set when world No. 2 Grinham had to concede a walkover due to an injury to her right foot. The next assignment for Nicol, who won eight Wispa titles last year and has been ranked world No. 1 for 19 consecutive months, will be the Asian Championships in Kuwait from Feb 13-21.
