Nafzahizam survives Keo’s challenge to reach last eight KUALA LUMPUR: National number four Nafzahizam Adnan staved off a strong challenge from team-mate Elvinn Keo to reach the quarter-finals of the NSC Super Satellite No. 2 tournament at the National Squash Centre in Bukit Jalil yesterday.
The sixth seeded Nafzahizam came back from a set down to win 9-11, 11-6, 11-9, 5-11, 11-6 in 47 minutes. He will play against unseeded Aqib Hanif of Pakistan today for a place in the semi-finals. Aqib upset third seed Steve Finitsis of Australia, winning 11-9, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9.
Mohd Asyraf Azan also advanced to the quarter-finals with a hard fought 6-11, 11-6, 11-8, 11-13, 11-2 win over Wasim Shad of Pakistan. The eight seeded Asyraf will be up against second seed Mike Corren of Australia today.
In the women’s competition, Siti Munirah Jusoh, who is ranked 59th in the world, chalked up an impressive 9-7, 9-2, 6-9, 9-3 win over world number 37 Orla Noom of Holland. She will play against fifth seeded team-mate Lim Yoke Wah in the quarter-finals.
The 21-year-old Siti said that Noom was the highest ranked player beaten by her since she turned professional in 2005.

“I played consistently and I am happy with my game. My shots worked well today. I hope to give a good fight against Yoke Wah to reach the semi-finals,” said Siti.
Yoke Wah came back from a set down to beat Japan’s Misaki Kobayashi 4-9, 9-7, 9-1, 7-9, 9-3.
Low Wee Wern and Delia Arnold also advanced to quarter-final matches against fourth seeded Canadian Alna Miller and second seeded Indian Joshna Chinappa respectively.
