Korea: Nicol struggles to get past Duncalf to reach semis Malaysia’s Nicol David staved off a strong challenge from England’s Jenny Duncalf to reach the semi-finals of the Seoul Open squash championships yesterday.
World number one and top seed Nicol won 9-5, 8-10, 9-5, 9-5 to set up a last four showdown against seventh seed Alison Waters (pic) of England.
Waters also had it tough in her quarter-final clash against Kasey Brown of Australia. The English lass had to fight back from a set down to prevail 6-9, 9-6, 9-5, 7-9, 9-4.
Eighth seed Laura Lengthorn Massaro of England survived a torrid time before subduing Ireland’s Madeline Perry 10-9, 10-8,10-8 to reach the last four.
Australia’s Rachel Grinham, the second seed, however, had no such problem in her quarter-final tie, dispatching Holland’s Vanessa Atkinson 9-6, 9-0, 9-6.
