Gong Badak complex will be fully utilised PETALING JAYA: The newly-built venues for the 12th Malaysia Games (Sukma) in Terengganu will be well utilised by the public.
Sukma secretariat chief executive officer Arpin Deraman said that the Sports Complex in Gong Badak would not become a white Elephant after the Games.
He said that the Sports Complex would continue to be an attraction because of its strategic planning, which included having a 48-lane bowling alley and squash courts in the complex. He added that by building the bowling and squash courts under one roof at the Main Complex, it helped them save extra costs from erecting new facilities elsewhere.
“We intend to rent out the facilities at the Main Complex to the general public and we hope that the stadium will not be used for football matches or athletics only,” he said.
While the eight squash courts have been completed, the bowling alley, which is on the second floor of the complex, is nearing completion.
