KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia got off to a great start in the men’s World Team squash championships when they outplayed Kuwait 3-0 in a Group E match in Chennai yesterday. National No. 3 Mohd Nafiizwan Adnan snatched the first point, beating Mohammed Y. Hajeyah 11-3, 11-7, 10-12, 11-4. National No. 1 and Malaysian Open champion Mohd Azlan Iskandar got the winning point with an 11-6, 11-7, 11-9 win over Bader Al-Hussaini. Ong Beng Hee made it 3-0, beating Abdullah Al-Mezayen 11-1, 9-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-8. Malaysia, who are seeded fifth, will face 12th seed South Africa today.

Malaysia fall to France in quarter-finals
Malaysia failed to reach the semi-finals of the World Team Squash Championships in Chennai yesterday when they went down 3-0 to third seeds France. Ong Beng Hee was beaten 9-11, 6-11, 10-11 by Thierry Lincou in the opening match of the quarter-finals. France notched their winning point when Gregory Gaultier defeated Mohamed Azlan Iskandar 11-8, 11-6, 9-11, 11-7. In the dead rubber, Renan Levigne beat Mohamed Asyra Azan 11-8, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7. In today's play-off for the fifth to eighth places, the Malaysians will face Holland while India will meet Canada. France will encounter defending champions England while top seeds Egypt face Australia in the semi-finals today.
